As most people know, having a clear plan makes a huge difference to how quickly and efficiently you achieve your goals. This is no different in IT and the cornerstone of the service we provide is taking the information about how you work as a business; what your pain points are where your repetition is and what systems you use.
We put that into a roadmap for us to work on with you, aiming for secure efficiencies. We find that a collaborative approach between our engineers and your team makes for much better outcomes, allowing us to enact big changes without too many disruptions. Your roadmap will be founded in security, meaning that as we move you forward we always keep you inside your own risk appetite. It also includes how much support you feel your team needs and plan on regular training sessions relevant to your team's skill set and needs.
The remainder of the Roadmap will outline the project work we have agreed on with you, which will be specific to your current set up and where you want to be to get your business working compliantly, efficiently and smoothly, even when disruptions occur!
As part of our it management and consultancy services we provide support from the basics right through to troubleshooting the tricky bits. If we find IT issues that are recurring or systemic, then we move from a simple break/fix approach to a quality improvement project with you to address the root cause so you don't keep spending money on the same pain points over and over.
A key difference in Minitech's approach to support is to also provide training on those issues which crop up frequently for your team so that they become empowered to address them independently in the first instance.
Our advice doesn't end at support though; separate from your high level roadmap we will actively bring to light ways for you to move forward. We hold weekly meetings internally where we discuss how each of our clients work and brainstorm methods to help them. On top of that proactive approach we also engage your staff at every level for feedback to see where we can help.
We want our clients to feel comfortable with IT, to embrace the exciting opportunities that tech can provide in every workplace, so we prioritise working with you, wherever you rate your IT skills, to make your systems and hardware an asset to you rather than a source of annoyance or anxiety.
Cyber security is the current hot issue in IT, particularly with it becoming evident that NZ has not been protecting itself and we are now experiencing an increase in overseas attacks. For certain industries, such as legal and financial services, it has always been high priority to ensure your data, and that of your clients, is kept secure.
For businesses that want to have a snapshot of where they stand we offer 3 audits to help you identify your needs:
Binary Audit - this is a pass/fail check of your security, ideal if you're pretty confident in your set up and don't want an in-depth dive.
Graded Audit - The Goldilocks of audits, this provides more detail and a plan going forward. You will receive a grade of Bronze, Silver or Gold and an action plan to help you address any gaps identified. This is recommended for most businesses.
Enterprise Audit - This is a comprehensive check of your security requiring roughly a week of work and involving attempts by Minitech to breach your security, to find all gaps and weaknesses. Your staff will be actively attacked, and it works best when you don't tell them that.
Device management is a vital tool to have in your kit and is hugely under utilised.
Device management has some key uses which should be basic must-haves for modern business. These are things like being able to remotely wipe devices if they're lost or stolen, with the data encrypted against attacks. It also allows for controlling updates, and security versions which is becoming the key point of difference between a foiled attack and a total loss. You can then also do the more bespoke work, such as having pre set apps and a company bookmarks page for their web browser.
Device management also makes transitions such as staff joining or leaving, or devices being passed from one team member to another, much smoother and easier.
This is a must, and shouldn't be underestimated in the modern world. And for those with contractors, or overseas staff, where you don't own the device, don't worry. There are solutions for that business model as well.
Purchasing and keeping track of hardware seems straightforward, but as your business grows this often becomes a task you no longer have the time or motivation to prioritise.
IT hardware can be a significant portion of your business's budget and having an expert advise you on what to buy, and how soon to replace your team's devices can help you make savings and manage your cashflow over time.
Many businesses have also never worried about tracking their hardware beyond the finance side, making it almost impossible to know when a device is nearing the end of it's lifespan, or which staff members it has been assigned to since its purchase.
Minitech will discuss with you our general guidelines on which devices meet our standards, and then work with you to establish what is needed for the different roles in your team. We will purchase, set up and keep track of your hardware so that it's one less thing for you to focus on.
